When creating SC41 Furniture, I was reminded of the slogan, ‘think globally and act locally.’ We may be the first local business to be entirely green, from the inside out. Our building was renovated using low or no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) materials. Every time we make a decision to use eco-friendly products, not only is the planet benefiting, but we are making a healthy choice for ourselves."

Lori Hannum, Interior Design

Lori joined SC41 at its inception, bringing a strong background in environmental design and social causes to the business. She has worked locally on both residential and commercial projects which have earned certification through the Santa Cruz Green Building Program and has also worked on LEED Certified projects. She holds a degree in Interior Design with an emphasis on Sustainable and Aging-in-Place design. She has a passion for furniture design and does extensive research on each manufacturer selected for the SC41 showroom. Away from the store, Lori enjoys spending time with like-minded friends, family and her wonderful pets, Cass and Mimi.

Chris New, Warehouse Manager

Chris has lived and worked in Santa Cruz County for the past 9 years. He attended Cabrillo College where he graduated with honors and received his AS in Fire Science. Chris is also a Nationally Registered EMT as well as active volunteer firefighter at Branciforte Fire Department. Chris has worked with Michael (the owner) for 4 years, originally on the showroom floor and now as our Warehouse and Delivery Manager. When not at work Chris enjoys nearly any outdoor activity, as well as spending time with family and his two rambunctious dogs.

Susan Guiver, Sales Associate

An East Coast native, Susan greatly appreciates the natural beauty, mild climate and simple lifestyle of the Monterey Bay Area. She is delighted to contribute to the health and beauty of our planet while offering green, stylish furnishings and clean, health-giving sleep systems. For almost ten years Susan assisted clients with their glass art and highly collectible paperweight collections; she has transitioned smoothly to assisting customers with their eco-friendly choices here at SC41. She loves spending time with her partner Greg and her very large family, practicing yoga, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking a delicious meal to enjoy with a glass of wine.

Adriane Clemens, Sales Associate

Adriane has lived and worked in Santa Cruz her whole life. She has a B.A. in History of Art and Visual Culture from UC Santa Cruz as well as an A.A. in Art History from Cabrillo College. She is quite knowledgeable about the multicultural aspects of the visual world and comes from a family of artists. She does her part in being green by recycling, composting, and buying environmentally-safe products and also loves to support Santa Cruz businesses by shopping local.

Adriane joins SC41 as a sales associate and is happy to be part of a team that contributes to taking care of the environment by providing eco-friendly furniture and products. When she's not at SC41, she enjoys being outdoors experiencing all that the beautiful Santa Cruz area has to offer, spending time with friends and family, and practicing her martial arts.

Bob Lee, Sales Associate

Bob came to SC41 soon after moving to Santa Cruz from Los Angeles. "Having been in the furniture business most of my life, from delivering waterbeds in college, to designing furniture for the people in Hollywood, I knew this was the only place I wanted to be. To be in the industry that I love, involved with a group of people who are really making a difference, is the most I could ask for." You can find Bob at SC41too most days, and occasionally at SC41.

Bob lives up in the Redwoods with his partner Kathryn, Boston Terrier Davey, Siamese cat Gezabele, Coon cat Zena, and parrot Marley.

Max Threlked, Delivery Team

Max is the newest member of SC41's outstanding delivery crew. He is an avid woodworker and owner/operator of his own custom furniture business so he has extensive background and knowledge about our products. He enjoys all aspects of woodworking, including cabinetry and refinishing antiques.

Max is an active outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, biking, camping, his garden, and his pet chickens. He likes working with a company that focuses on sustainability and reliability, as well as excellent customer service. He looks forward to working with the customers at SC41 and making their experience a positive and enjoyable one.
